Copyright is when someone takes credit for their own work and put their water mark on their item to show ownership. The watermark is also so no one can take that art and claim it as their own. I do not think that Happy Birthday should be protected because nobody really cares if you sing it. This song is just a way to celebrate someones Birthday. Nobody out there is trying to say that the song is theirs and it would not affect people because they would not care.
